Weather Limits

The weather limits for the Tauchmann Telescope are the same as for the Shane 3-m Telescope. Link to Shane Weather Limits

Always check with the Shane Telescope Operator (8-0652 or via walkie talkie) to make sure the weather is suitable before opening the dome.

The relative humidity limit for telescope operations is strictly less than 94%, but it is wise to shut down when the humidity starts approaching 90%. There is a humidity guage (Figure 1) in the Tauchman dome, so it is good practice to check it periodically during observing as well as looking out the dome slit to monitor current weather conditions.
