Tangent Arm
There is a tangent arm for fine declination motion control.
It is operated by pushing the declination buttons on the paddle.
Prior to each observing run the observer should check the position of
the arm to ensure that it is not near the end of its travel. When
looking up from the controls of the telescope one can see a "face" on
the end of the tangent arm. If it is centered the "nose" will be
aligned with a pole that runs down the tube of the telescope. If it
is not centered one will need to hold the paddle button until it is.
This can take several minutes.
