Laser Status Reports

The Laser Status Reports GUI is software that assists Support Astronomers or Laser Operators send the required email reports to US Space Command Laser Clearinghouse. The Laser Status Reports GUI is started with the command lgsStatusReports.tcl from shanevnc.

Figure 1: Laser Status Reports GUI

The top section is for filing the Laser Status Report 1 hour before LGS operations begin. Beginning and ending times of planned laser activities are input in 24hr format Pacific (local) Time. By default, the normal 10pm (22:00) to 5am (05:00) times are filled in. Times will be converted to UTC when the message is sent.

The status of the laser operations should be selected:

If selecting Yellow or Red status, note the reason in the entry box, e.g. weather or equipment problem.

Once the entries have been properly filled out, click on the "Send Laser Status Report" button to send the email. A message box will appear indicating who the message was sent to or if there was an error sending the message. Messages are sent to the current Laser Clearinghouse email and copied to mh-laser@ucolick.org.

The bottom section of the GUI is for the Quick Look Report email that should be filed within 15 minutes of completion of laser operations. Enter the actual times that laser operations began and ended in the appropriate boxes in Pacific (local) time in 24 hour format. By default the normal laser operation hours are entered, 10pm (22:00) to 5am (05:00). Times will be converted to UTC when the email is sent.

Do not change the Assessment of Deconfliction Adherence unless there was a Lasing Outside of Approved Parameters (LOAP) event, in which case give a short summary here and contact Elinor Gates and start filling out the LOAP paperwork. The safety systems (hardware and software) should not allow a LOAP event, so this should never happen if everything is working properly.

Once the fields are all filled in, click the "Send Quick Look Report" button. A message box will appear indicating who the message was sent to or if there was an error sending the message. Messages are sent to the current Laser Clearinghouse email and mh-laser@ucolick.org.

To exit the GUI, click the "QUIT" button.
