The Two Weeks on Mars project spanned several public observatory events, including this Summer Visitor's Program night, at which amateur astronomers volunteered their time and telescopes. Rich Neuschaeffer (right) gives Bill Sheehan (seated) a look at Mars through his fine 6" refractor. Modern achromatic optics compare favorably with the 36", but at moments of good seeing, the long focal length of the older instrument gave unsurpassed views. We extend special thanks to Rich for his donation of a high quality binocular eyepiece for the 36".
