All Limits Status
The All Limits Status panel displays the values and status of all telescope position limits. The Position row shows the value of each software limit in the appropriate units (degrees, minutes, and seconds of declination for the North and South limits, hours, minutes, and seconds of hour angle for the East and West limits, and degrees from horizon and zenith for the Elevation and Zenith limits respectively). The values of the limits displayed in the panel will depend on which version (Direct Imaging or Spectroscopy) of POCO is running.

The Near, Software, and Hardware rows display the current status of each limit -- either "clear" or "TRIPPED". "Near" limits are simply warnings that a particular limit is being approached, and do not affect telescope motion.

A tripped "Software" limit disables telescope tracking and autodome. The telescope can be driven out of a software limit by entering a new (and acceptable) telescope position in the Main Window and pushing the "Move to Target" button, or by manually slewing out of the limit.

"Hardware" limits are rarely tripped, as the software limits generally disables motion before the hardware limit is reached. However, it is possible in some cases for the telescope to coast past a software limit and trip a hardware limit. When this occurs, it is necessary to manually slew the telescope out of the limit using the paddle on the dome floor.

Note that there is no hardware zenith limit, and that the "near" and "software" zenith limits simply warn that the telescope is approaching or within the zone around zenith where the telescope is partly occulted by the dome. Telescope motion is not affected.

Limit status, zenith warnings, and approximate percentage of zenith occultation are displayed in both the Direct Imaging Main Window and the Spectroscopy Main Window.
